1/72 Hobby Master US Navy  F4B Phantom II, VF 143 Pukin Dogs Squadron, USS Constellation 1967

It long time not updated my favorite legendary fighter in US Air Forces history. The F4 Phantom II fleet has been added with new variant F4B Phantom II from US Navy. F4B is the early version of F4 phantom II that has been served with US Navy Air Fleet. F4B is the early navy version before it upgraded to F4N and F4J through the years after it first served in 1960. So for my F4B Phantom II version is based on F4B VF143 Pukin Dogs Squadron that has been operational in USS Constellation in 1967 on Vietnam War.

VF-143 “Pukin’ Dogs” adopted their insignia in 1953. One of several stories goes that the
squadron commander’s wife said the insignia reminded her of a pukin’ dog which the pilots
liked so the named was born. The second unit to be named VF-143 “Pukin’ Dogs” came about on June 20, 1962 and was equipped with F4H-1 Phantom II (later re-designated F-4B Phantom II). F-4B 151444 was one of the B variants that were upgraded to N’s and joined the USN in 1973.

The squadron was credited with the downing of the first MiG-21 in 1967, lead by R.M. Hooper LtCmdr; call sign: "Pacer".
