Syark Defence Forces (SDF) -1/35 ITALERI US ARMY M109A6 PALADIN

Good days everybody, today I would like again showed off my new model M109A6 Paladin. This model I bought from my favourite oldest modeller from Kangar North of Malaysian Peninsular. The M109A6 Paladin is a further upgrade of the M109 self-propelled howitzer, which was introduced in early 1960s. This M109A6 Paladin self-propelled howitzer entered service with the US Army in 1991. Production ceased in 1999. A total of 950 artillery systems were built for the US Army. Export operators are Israel and Taiwan. With the cancellation of Crusader programme the US Army will continue to rely on the M109A6 Paladin, until it will be replaced with the NLOS-C future artillery system.

The M109A6 has a larger turret. It is armed with the M284 155-mm / L39 howitzer, fitted with a semi-automatic loading system. Maximum range of fire is 24 km with standard projectiles and 30 km with rocket-assisted projectiles. Maximum rate of fire is 4 rounds per minute. Sustained rate is one round every three minutes.

The M109 saw its combat debut in Vietnam. Israel used the M109 against Egypt in the 1973 Yom Kippur War and in the 1982 Lebanon War and 2006 Lebanon War. Iran used the M109 in the Iran–Iraq War, in the 1980s. The M109 saw service with the British Army, the Egyptian Army and Saudi Arabian Army in the 1991 Gulf War. The M109 also saw service with the U.S. Army in the Gulf War, as well as in the Iraq War from 2003 to present.

Syark Defence Forces (SDF) - 1/35 Academy ROK Army K9 Thunder

The scaled K9 Thunder that I collected before raya from my favorite modeler Yaminz from Sri Gombak. Firstly I have not attention to get this model but when I visit yaminz house. Is so far his house from my family house in Shah Alam. So I decided to get this model before it goes another hand hehehehe. The K9 Thunder is is a South Korean self-propelled 155 mm howitzer developed by Samsung Techwin for the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. It was developed to supplement and eventually replace the K55 self-propelled howitzers currently in South Korean service. K9 howitzers operate in groups with the K10 automatic ammunition resupply vehicle.

The development program of this 155 mm/52-caliber self-propelled howitzer has been underway since 1989. In 1996 the first prototype of this new artillery system was tested. The contract for the new K9 artillery system was awarded to Samsung Aerospace Industries (SSA) by the Korean Government on 22 December 1998. Republic of Korea Army received its first batch of K9 in 1999. The K9 was involved in the Bombardment of Yeonpyeong between North and South Korean artillery units on 23 November 2010.
The first country Samsung Techwin sold the K9 to was Turkey. Turkey received its first batch of the K9 and the license to domestically produce the system in 2004, in a deal that amounted to $1 billion. The domestic Turkish version was renamed as T-155 Firtina. Turkey is expected to field a force of 300 Firtinas by 2011. Samsung Techwin has also formed a venture on 29 March 2012 with Indian conglomerate Larsen and Toubro to supply the K9 for the Indian Army Howitzer competition.
The K9 was a contender for Phase 1C of Australia's Land 17 Artillery Replacement Program prior to that phase of the project being cancelled in May 2012

Syark Defence Forces (SDF) - 1/35 Tamiya UK MBT Challenger 1 Mk.3 (Desert Camo)

1/35 Tamiya UK MBT Challenger 1 Mk.3 (Desert Camo)

I'm already have 2 challenger 1 right now. This model I ask my modeler to painted it in desert camo. I satisfied the result of this model. Long time ago, I hired another modeler to build this kit but that modeler cannot give the good result that I wanted to see and because of that issue, I give this model again to my favourite modeler (Yamin Ishak) to rebuild an repaint and the result is what you can see in the picture. Challenger 1 Mk.3

The British FV4030/4 Challenger 1, was the main battle tank (MBT) of the British Army from 1983 to the mid 1990s, The Challenger design by the former Military Vehicles and Engineering Establishment (MVEE) near Chobham in Surrey originated in anIranian order for an improved version of the Chieftain line of tanks in service around the world. These were the Chieftain Mk5(P)- FV4030/1, FV4030/2 Shir (Lion)1 and 4030/3 Shir 2. With the fall of the Shah of Iran and the collapse of the UK MBT80 project, the British Army became the customer and the tank was further developed by MVEE to meet Western European requirements. For a short time the tank was named "Cheviot" before becoming "Challenger", a name reused from a cruiser tank of the Second World War.

The most revolutionary aspect of the Challenger 1 design was its Chobham armour which gave protection far superior to any monolithic Rolled Homogeneous Armour (RHA), which was the then standard of tank armour material. This armour has been adopted by others, most notably the American M1 Abrams. Additionally the Hydrogas suspension fitted provided outstanding cross-country performance through the long suspension arm travel and controlled bump and rebound behaviour offered.
The Challenger was built by the Royal Ordnance Factories (ROF). In 1986, ROF Leeds (and the Challenger production line) was acquired by Vickers Defence Systems (later Alvis Vickers).
Challenger 1 competed in the Canadian Army Trophy Competition in 1987. It scored more direct hits than its competitor, but the poor fire control system and sights caused it to be the slowest firer, and it was placed last in the league tables.
180 Challenger tanks were deployed to Saudi Arabia for Operation Granby, the UK operation in the Persian Gulf War which this MBT has destroyed around 300 iraqi armoured vehicle without single lost of Challenger during Operation Desert Storm. Challengers were also used by the British Army in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Operation Joint Guardian, the NATO-led drive into Kosovo.

Syark Defence Forces (SDF) - 1/35 Zvedza Russian MBT T-80UD

1/35 Zvedza Russian MBT T-80UD

Modeller : Yaminz (Malaysia)

New Soviet MBT in the line of my collection. I just received this model from my favourite modeller in Kuching, Sarawak. The T-80UD is a variant of the T-80U main battle tank, fitted with a diesel engine in place of the gas turbine. Design of the T-80UD is similar to the T-80U except the powerplant. Production of the T-80UD commenced in the late 1980s in Ukraine and around 500 of these MBTs were built. Production ceased in 1991 with the collapse of the Soviet Union. These vehicles are in service with Russia and Ukraine. A number of these main battle tanks were exported to Pakistan in the late 1990s.
Armor protection of the T-80UD includes composite armor and explosive reactive armor packages. Vehicle is fitted with an NBC protection and automatic fire suppression systems.
The T-80UD is armed with a fully-stabilized 125-mm smoothbore gun, fitted with a carousel-type autoloader. It also fires 9M119 Refleks (AT-11 Sniper) laser-guided anti-tank missiles in the same manner as ordinary projectiles. Missiles have a maximum range of 5 km and can also be used against low-flying helicopters. A total of 45 rounds are carried, including APFSDS, HEAT and HE-FRAG. Effective range of fire with APFSDS round is 2 000 - 3 000 m day and 2 000 - 2 600 at night. Armor penetration is about 590 - 630 mm at 2 000 m range.
Secondary armament consists of coaxial 7.62-mm machine gun and remotely controlled 12.7-mm anti-aircraft machine gun.
The T-80UD is fitted with a modern fire control system and has high first round hit probability.Further development of the T-80UD became the Ukrainian T-84 main battle tank. It is worth mentioning that vehicles supplied to Pakistan had many features of the T-84, including new turret.
