Syark Defence Force (SDF) - 1/35 Academy IDF Merkava Mk.IV MBT

1/35 Academy IDF Merkava Mk.IV MBT

Modeler : Sandakan Hobby

My Mission to collect all variant of Merkava MBT in IDF has been accomplished after I got my final and latest Merkava Mk.IV from my friend who has retired from his hobby.

The Merkava Mk.4 main battle tank entered service with Israel Defense Forces in 2004. It is a further development of the Merkava Mk.3. A total of 360 of these tanks have already been built and another 300 have been ordered by Israeli Defense Forces. In 2014 it was reported, that Israel will export a number of these tanks to an undisclosed customer. Currently the Merkava Mk.4 is among 10 best main battle tanks in the world.

The latest Merkava Mk.4 is slightly larger than the Mk.3. The new MBT is one of the most protected tanks in the world. It has a new armor, comparing with predecessor. Hull of the Merkava Mk.4 was redesigned to install new engine. A front-mounted engine also provided improved frontal protection. The Mk.4 is also fitted with new modular armor, that can be reconfigured to match specific threats. Bottom of the hull has been strengthened for better protection against land mines. This main battle tank can also be fitted with Trophy active protection system. Protection suite also includes advanced threat identification and warning system. This MBT is also well protected against air-launched guided missiles and top attack anti-tank weapons.

The Strike Fighter Squadron 41 (VFA-41) also known as the "Black Aces", is a United States Navy strike fighter squadron based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California (USA).

The "Black Aces" are an operational fleet squadron that flies the F/A-18F Super Hornet. The Black Aces are attached to Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9), which are currently deployed aboard the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74). Their radio callsign is "Fast Eagle" and their tailcode is NG.

The Black Aces have made three combat deployments to Iraq, one in each of 2003, 2005 and 2007. The first supported the opening stages of the war, once again compiling the remarkable sortie completion rate of 100 percent. The second was most recently documented in the PBS miniseries "Carrier." The 2007 cruise took the Black Aces to both the Iraqi and Afghani theaters of operation.

In February 2012, VFA-41 completed a seven month deployment aboard the USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN-74) in the Arabian Gulf and North Arabian Sea in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and the final combat missions of Operation New Dawn. Less than six months later after an abbreviated turn around, the Black Aces once again deployed aboard STENNIS for an eight-month deployment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. During this time, STENNIS was the United States Navy's only deployed aircraft carrier. The Black Aces returned on April 29, 2013 and are currently in the middle of a post-deployment sustainment phase.
