Malaysia US Amphibious Exercise - MALUS AMPHEx 2014

Another Joint Exercise between Malaysia Armed Forces with United States Marine Corps in Sabah Territory especially in Lahad Datu which last year become National Tragedy when OPS Daulat conducted to mopping out Sulu Terrorist.

This exercise maybe can  be described as similar to CARAT exercise but this time, Malaysia assigned another team to joint this exercise 7th Malay Soldier Regiment (7 RAMD) exercise it with USMC 11th MEU (Marines Expeditionary Unit).

On this exercise, Malaysia Sabah has become test field for USMC LAV25 and AAVP manuver and feel the dirt of Malaysia Soil.

Hopefully this things as another step to Malaysia Armed forces to create their New Malaysia Marines. As we observed through this year. Malaysia Armed Forces always send our troops joining exercise with USMC like Malus and last participate in RIMPAC 2014 in Hawaii. This must be another exposure to Malaysia team on how Marines works out with their ship and assets. Malaysia Marines as known will followed most of the concept of USMC doctrine.

  1. Bilateral engagements are a way of offering different, as well as, similar operational training. These engagements also fosters team spirit between to different forces and starts a long lasting friendship... This Joint Exercise between the Malaysia Armed Forces and United States Marine Corps in Lahad Datu, Sabah forges yet another assurance that friends are not too far away.

Our 'Hats Off" to both teams in this joint exercise, 7th Malay Soldier Regiment (7 RAMD) and 11th MEU USMC (Marines Expeditionary Unit) for yet another excellent training.

We witnessed first hand how the LAV25 operated and maneuvered in the wet slick Malaysian dirt as well as the US Marine's own 'BEAST' called the 88, which assisted in pulling immobile vehicles out of ditches and deep wet tracks... But with the 88, they handled it!

We are grateful to be a part of this and congratulate you all for a great display of operational training engagement and teamwork.

We look forward to your return, hopefully soon!
