A C-130J Super Hercules drops a low-cost low-altitude bundle over the South China Sea during Cope Taufan 14, June 13, 2014. The LCLA airdrop is the first in Malaysia. The drops are termed Òlow-costÓ reflecting the relative expense of the expendable parachutes compared to their more durable, but pricier nylon counterparts. ÒLow-altitudeÓ alludes to the relative height from which bundles are released from the aircraft.
